The Brief:

Based in Stockholm, Unit Portables is a bag brand which has quickly grown in popularity and is now sold in over 30 territories around the world. Unit Portables chose Sliding Doors to launch in the UK and to manage their ongoing PR. Unit Portables’ range is design-led and mixes fashion with function. Their unique modular system allows customisation of the bags while still ensuring that you can safely transport all the important gadgets we use every day. Sliding Doors’ brief was to plan and execute a successful launch, clearly communicating the brand concept, product range and features,  and fashion credentials to relevant media and end consumers.

 

 

What We Did:

Sliding Doors worked hard to become experts on Unit Portables, working closely with the brand to understand the full range of products, how they worked and why they were so different from the competition. We developed the key messages for the campaign from this research and planned a well-thought out strategy to establish the brand credentials. We targeted individual and highly influential blogs such as Cool Hunting to run exclusives on the brand, which helped to generate hype around the launch. We distributed an initial press release to a wide-ranging but carefully targeted media list, backed up with strong imagery. A process of individual pitches followed, to place Unit Portables into key titles across design, fashion and lifestyle, aiming to underline the core messages and ensure the brand was perceived as on-trend. We also focused on specific trade publications to help Unit Portables open doors and establish a retail footprint in the UK and beyond.

What We Achieved:

Sliding Doors secured a wide-range of high value press coverage for Unit Portables across a number of key target areas including fashion, lifestyle, design and trade. Exclusives ran with globally influential lifestyle sites such as Cool Hunting helping to establish the brand’s style credentials. The brand was covered in the likes of the Sunday Times, Monocle, GQ, Hypebeast, Loaded, Fashion Beans, The Daily Street, LDN Fashion, Notion, RWD, DJ Mag, The Guardian, Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, Menswear Buyer Magazine, Drapers Magazine and many more….

The campaign to date has reached many millions of readers in print and online. All key messages were clearly communicated and Sliding Doors’ campaign has helped to establish a credible brand from both media and end consumer perspective.
